Good morning everyone.
I’m still on the subject of the wedding banquet because I find it correct to dedicate several Sundays to this theme. Revealing many aspects in succession seems to me appropriate and respectful of the logic indicated in the post of last 11 October, “the Checklist”.
It is important to choose the chairs just like everything else, even if sometimes it happens that instead of choosing, the newlyweds are "content" with those supplied by the catering or the set-up company that has been hired. It may be a sensible "choice" to streamline the complicated machine of preparations a little, but it is always necessary to remember two fundamental aspects: aesthetics and comfort. The chair should be a beautiful chair, that matches the whole context of the wedding style, but it should also be comfortable, since the guests, as well as the bride and groom themselves, will spend many hours right up there!
Here, then, is a list of the most used chairs and, as usual, some advice.
Tiffany
Also called “Chiavarina”, Tiffany is the classic chair par excellence: generally available both in its more traditional forms and revisited in a modern key with more current materials or repainted in other shades. Perfect for both indoor and outdoor banquets, it is ideal for a traditional and elegant wedding.
Avant Garde
The Avant Garde chair is a folding model and is perfect for an informal outdoor banquet, more precisely in a garden. Simple and available in multiple colors, it can be decorated with flowers and ribbons. Folding chairs are also among the cheapest because they are easier to transport. But be careful, as there are several different types of folding chair.
Napoleonic style
Also known as the Parisian chair, it is an excellent choice to offer guests a classic and elegant seat. Due to its more rounded and padded shapes, it is certainly much more comfortable than other more spartan ones. Although a decidedly more structured chair, this too can be decorated with flowers and ribbons, to give a richer and more refined look.
Provencal
It is a model of chair that is well suited to a wedding with a vintage flavor, even better if the bride wears a slightly retro dress: they are elegant, very chic chairs, characterized by particular geometric designs on the backrest.
Ghost chairs
Available in different models (including the Tiffany one) or in rounded or more geometric shapes, these chairs made in polycarbonate or with transparent materials, hence the name "Ghost", are all the rage in recent times. Perfect for adding a touch of modernity to a classic setting.
Director chair
Suitable for a ceremony on the beach, in general, they are foldable and made of wood and fabric. They will be an original and less seen idea than many others. Furthermore, it will not be necessary to spend on decoration because they already have a complete look in themselves, thanks to the fabric they are covered with.
Thonet
The Thonet chairs were born as chairs built in wood and with a simple appearance, but over time they have been revisited in metal versions and with the addition of decorations on the back. These are traditional chairs, among the most widespread, which are used covered by the white ghost, for a classic effect. Thanks to the variety of existing models, they can also be adopted without upholstery and embellished by adding cushions or decorations on the backrest. My very personal suggestion, in fact, would be not to cover them (God forbid!).
Cross
The wooden Cross chair, named for the characteristic X shape on the back, is a very modern alternative to the “Chiavarina” or Parisian chairs, particularly suitable for rustic-style weddings, both in open and closed environments. You can leave it without decorations for a minimal effect or embellish it with floral compositions.
Original… to amaze
Very popular in country chic weddings are also wooden benches and hay bales. If you evaluate this type of solution, it is good to consider, among other things, a not negligible factor: the absence of the backrest. It is therefore advisable to choose benches or hay bales only for informal and short-term banquets. Even if my personal advice would be to absolutely not take them into consideration!
Finally, remember that, once you have chosen the style that will characterize the wedding, it will be much easier and more natural to select all those elements that will make it unique. Therefore, once again, first choose the style of the wedding and then everything else.
Until next Sunday
